Tracy Lord's His Majesty recording setup:

The music for this CD was written by Tracy Lord, Kirk Lord, and Kenny Godin from 1990 - 1996. Most of the tracks were recorded at MIDIMate Studios (my personal recording studio in my basement). We recorded multiple takes of all the songs and picked the best versions we had. I played my Brad French Mighty Might Strat through an Alesis QuadraVerb GT which was plugged into a Mackie mixer. Kirk played his 6 string bass through a preamp that was plugged into the Mackie mixer. Kenny had the chore of learning how to play all the drum parts on a Roland OctaPad II with a MIDI kick drum pedal and homemade switchable hit hat pad. Only Kenny could have pulled this off! His MIDI pads triggered an Alesis D4 drum module which was also plugged into the Mackie mixer. We had an Alesis MIDIVerb II and an Alesis QuadraVerb for effects. The mix from the Mackie was recorded directly to a Panasonic SV-3700 DAT machine in stereo. There were no overdubs done for this CD ... just straight live recording to DAT (except for tracks 7 & 8 which were recorded at my old studio Northern Lites and Sound Studios ... thanx to PR for mixing those tunes). Once my computer became powerful enough to handle mastering I dumped the DAT data on to my hard drive and did the best I could mastering the tunes with Sound Forge. It's not 48 tracks of music ... it's not 17 over dubs and fixes ... it's what we did at the time to the best of our abilities.

We hope you enjoy it.
